SUMMARY:Circle the Capitol – Support D.C. Statehood
DESCRIPTION:JOIN US\nSeptember 18th at 7:30 p.m.\nCircle the Capitol – Support D.C. Statehood\nTwo reasons why you should must join us \n\nWhile acknowledging that Communities with significant Black and Brown residents have greater exposure to Coronavirus\, the $2.2 Trillion Stimulus Bill\, passed by the Republican Senate and signed by President Trump\, underscores the historic maltreatment of the District of Columbia. Under the Bill\, each state is entitled to a minimum of $1.25 Billion. D.C. however received less than $500 Million. That is because we were lumped in with the Territories and divided $3 Billion\, resulting in our receiving $750 Million less than we would receive if we were a state.\nDuring a peaceful protest near the White House\, President Trump deployed the United States Military\, with battle ready equipment\, including helicopters\, to push the protesters away. Using the Military of the United States on American citizens before using them on Russia or North Korea. Outrageous. That could not happen\, if we were a state.\n\nJoin us on September 18th\, when we will circle the Capitol\, the way the Pennsylvania Militia did on a certain day in June 1783\, to cause the creation of D.C. Let's recreate D.C. as a state\, so Trump cannot take three quarters of a billion dollars from us and cannot turn America's Army on peaceful protesters. \nSEPTEMBER 18th WILL BE LIVE STREAMED\, FROM 9:00 A.M. TO 9:00 P.M. \nTHE LINK FOR THE LIVE STREAM IS:\nhttps://www.metropodtv.com/Freedom_&Plaza.html \nTHE LIVE MUSIC AND COVID APPAREL FASHION SHOW AT 5:30 P.M.\, THE LAST OF FREEDOM PLAZA ACTIVITIES\, IS FREE TO ALL. \nFollowing the Freedom Plaza activities\, we ask that you join us\, beginning at 7:30 p.m.\, to walk around the Capitol\, on the public sidewalks\, social distancing at least six feet\, wearing masks. Glow Lights can be retrieved during the activities at Freedom Plaza or in front of the United States Supreme Court\, beginning at 7:30 p.m. At EXACTLY 8:30 p.m.\, we will halt our Circle and sing the FREEDOM SONG. Lyrics will be distributed. \nRepublican Senator\, Lisa Murkowski\, who represents Alaska\, a former territory that was granted statehood in 1959\, has said: \n"I'm probably one of the few that was actually born in a territory and in my lifetime we fought for statehood\, it was something driven by the residents and whether we are talking D.C. or Puerto Rico\, as long as it is driven by residents I'd pay attention." \nJOIN US ON THE 18TH. FIGHT FOR D.C. STATEHOOD! \n\nview flyer\n\nWe shall circle the Capitol at precisely 7:30 p.m. – Staging will be at the bottom of the West Side. \nWe are planning a Rally and Concert\, beginning at 6:00 p.m. – It will be free and Open to the Public. \nAll participants will be provided with a Glow Light to help illuminate the night sky. \nFinal plans will be distributed on September 1 2020 – Check livingwiththelaw.com \n\nview flyer\nTo help finance these activities\, you can buy items at the Store of livingwiththelaw.com \nTo get personal notification of the planned activities\, send your directory information; name\, address\, e-mail and telephone number to AttorneyJB@Comcast.net. Thank you. \nD.C. Statehood is within our Reach --- Be a part of the Solution

SUMMARY:Tribute to Congressman Walter E. Fauntroy
DESCRIPTION:Living with the Law in cooperation with the United Black Fund and Operation Beloved Communities for Peace will host a Tribute to Congressman Walter E. Fauntroy on the Eve of the historic 50th Year Anniversary of the March on Washington. \nThe Tribute will be held at Tony Cheng's Restaurant in D.C.'s Chinatown\, on Thursday\, 22 August 2013\, beginning at 7:00 p.m. and will feature a Buffet Dinner\, Live Music and Special Presentations. The cost to attendees is $25. \nCongressman Fauntroy served in the House of Representatives for two decades\, after having served as Vice-Chair of the appointed D.C. Council. At the same time\, he was the Pastor of the Church of his childhood\, New Bethel Baptist\, while leaving an indelible mark across the landscape of America. In the history of Washington DC\, no other person has had the impact of advancing the rights of the people of the District of Columbia more than Congressman Walter E. Fauntroy. As a soldier for Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. he convinced Dr. King to join him in pushing for D.C. Home Rule. As a member of Congress\, he played a pivotal role in getting the House and Senate to pass the D.C. Voting Rights Amendment – by super-majorities\, two-thirds of each body!  The greatest Tribute you can pay for his unparalleled work is to join in helping to lobby Congress to support the D.C. Statehood Bill. You may do so by signing up at the Tribute or sending your contact information to AttorneyJB@comcast.net. \nThis will be an event that marks another milestone in America's muddied history when it comes to race\, rights and equal treatment. \nFor more details\, view the flyer. \nTickets: Purchase tickets by calling (202) 882-2828 or sending e-mail to AttorneyJB@comcast.net.

SUMMARY:During Congressional Black Caucus Week-End - "Live"
DESCRIPTION:For the past four years\, artists and activists have gathered in Washington\, D.C. to promote the effort to make the residential and commercial parts of Washington\, D.C. the 51st State. This year\, we plan to take that program on the road\, with hopes of covering many states in the fall of 2012 and the spring and summer of 2013. \nThis Event\, a continuation of our D.C. Statehood Teach-In and Concert Series --- with the brilliant artists we have assembled --- will serve as a Prelude to our Tour. My Periodical\, Living with the Law\, is the prime sponsor of the Event and theTour. If you wish to join us on the Tour\, go to my website www.livingwiththelaw.com for details. \nWe are delighted to have Ayanna Gregory\, a unique and wonderful vocalist\, and daughter of celebrated Comedian and Human Rights Activist Dick Gregory. We believe this will be a memorable\, enjoyable evening. Don't miss it! \nJoin us on September 21st for the continuation of the D.C. Statehood Teach-In and Concert Series\, and then join us on the Tour. Thank you. \nJohnny Barnes\nPublisher and Editor\, Living with the Law

SUMMARY:Get on the Bus --- With Us
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Democratic Convention in Charlotte\, North Carolina – Hear the President – Live! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nview flyer\n\n\n\nFrom Sunday\, September 2nd through Friday\, September 7th\, almost 6\,000 Democratic Party delegates and thousands of other important Democratic Party officials and supporters will gather in Charlotte\, North Carolina. It will begin with a Charlotte street festival celebration and a Party hosted by our D.C. Democratic State Committee and ten other delegations; continue with official Democratic Party business (including the party platform and nomination of President Obama); and culminate with President Obama's acceptance speech. \nThe 2012 DNC convention in Charlotte is a tremendous opportunity for those of us who support statehood for the 618\,000 people in the present District of Columbia\, so that we can finally join the Union as full and equal citizens of the state of New Columbia. We have a chance to take the statehood movement to the next level by building the foundations of an enduring national network to support our cause. \nWe will journey to Charlotte together -- imagine a convoy of 25 cars and perhaps a bus sporting statehood signs down I-95? In Charlotte\, we will work to mobilize the support of important Democratic officials for our cause. We will assign you to a team that is focused on a specific state and help you gather information about that state's delegation. As a member of a team\, you will be trained on how to introduce yourself to your state's delegates\, educate them about New Columbia\, and ask them to take specific actions to support us. We will also guide you on how to build a long-term relationship with the people you meet\, to build a long-term national network of support. \nWhile we do this important work\, we will also have great fun with our fellow D.C. volunteers\, D.C. delegation\, and Democratic activists and officials from all over the country. Just think about who you might stand next to in a hotel lobby. \nWe will organize transportation by bus and/or carpools\, leaving Sunday\, September 2nd and returning Friday\, September 7th. We are also making every effort to organize free or low-cost housing with Charlotte residents (it's just 5 nights\, so let's be prepared to share rooms and possibly use a sleeping bag). So take five days and join us for a great time and a great cause!
