Rules of the Road, Part III

D.C. drivers have been among the worst in the country for the last six years, according to Allstate. The insurance company estimates that D.C. drivers have an accident once every 5.1 years. Driving responsibly requires not only driving skill but also knowledge of the laws governing your behavior while driving.

In the aftermath of a car accident, it is often difficult to think about your rights and responsibilities. Knowing the rules of the road and your legal options enables you to better handle the trauma of an accident. This article focuses on the most significant rules of the road (as applicable to non-commercial vehicles only) and the legal penalties or liabilities that accompany their violation in the event of an accident.
