The D.C. Statehood Film Festival - A total of $2,500 to be awarded to winners on 24 May 2019 - 5:30 p.m. - The Carnegie Institution - 16th and "P" N.W. Living with the Law will screen short films of five minutes or less that explain and/or promote D.C. Statehood. Ten final films will be selected and shown. Submit your short film by 1 May 2019 to Johnny Barnes Southwest Station - P.O. Box 70015 - Washington, D.C., 20024. D.C. Statehood - Yes we can!
The Film Festival will be followed by the D.C. Statehood Teach-In Symposium sponsored by Living with the Law in past years.
The Teach-In is also planned for Friday, 24 May 2019, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., in the Carnegie Institution Auditorium, 16th and "P" Streets, N.W. A Panel consisting primarily of current and former Congressional Staffers, Democrats and Republicans, and Academicians will discuss the issues related to D.C. Statehood. Attorney Johnny Barnes will present a brief discussion on filing a lawsuit to achieve D.C. Statehood.
