The Link above tells an excellent Story of Street Law that began in one D.C. high school, coordinated by one dedicated law school. Street Law is now in 150 law schools in America and has its place in 35 foreign countries. The Photo shows Georgetown Law Professor Jason Newman, me and Ed O'Brien, two of his law students, who taught the first class at Eastern High School and that same year, the first class at the D.C. Jail. My good friend, David Wilmot, taught the first class at Wilson High School, and Vice President KAMALA HJARRIS taught Street Law on her path to prominence. Yes, she did!

There is an Ethnic story that I tell, but not in mixed company and certainly not on social media, of Jason, Jewish, Ed, Irish, and me an African American when we received our first $25,000 from Nancy Harrison and her New World Foundation. Jason, Ed and I blurred racial, ethnic, class and background lines to forge a lifelong alliance.

Ed is now in Heaven, but I must mention his Spouse at the time, Peggy O'Brien, who taught at Eastern High School and was central to removing the skepticism of its principal of a Georgetown law student takeover.
