The D.C. Statehood Teach-In and Concert Series – Continues in 2012

Sunday March 25, 2012

For the past four summers, artists and activists have gathered in Washington, D.C. to promote the effort to make the District of Columbia the 51st state. This year, we plan to take that program on the road, with hopes of covering 20 states over the spring, summer and fall.

This Launch --- with the brilliant artists we have assembled --- will serve as a Prelude to our Tour. This Periodical, Living with the Law, is the prime Sponsor for the Tour. If you wish to join us on the Tour, you may sign up by going to dctour.eventbrite.com for details.

We are delighted to have Leonard, Coleman and Blunt, former Lead Singers of the Temptations, Drifters and Platters, as our Headliner. They will be joined by Ayanna Gregory, a unique and wonderful vocalist, and daughter of celebrated Comedian and Human Rights Activist Dick Gregory as well as the Porch Pickers Brigade who combine blue grass with jazz, funk, reggae, R&B and other genres. Ty Causey, an Artist from Indiana who will perform when we journey there on our Tour, will make an appearance at this Launch Event. This will be a memorable and enjoyable evening. Don’t miss it!

Every human being on this planet, residing in a nation with representative government, enjoys political standing, and most enjoy sovereignty, except those who happen to reside in Washington, D.C. The more than 600,000 tax paying Americans who reside here bear all the burdens of citizenship --- paying taxes, fighting in wars and being subject to this country's laws --- yet we do not enjoy the benefits of citizenship, the right to vote and participate in the same manner as all others. We must change that!

Join us on May 17th to Launch the 2012 D.C. Statehood Teach-In and Concert Series, and then join us on the Tour. Thank you.
